Filip Cherecheș-Toșa is a well known software entrepreneur in Romania, having founded jobber – the largest IT job site in the country, jobberBase – an open-source job site platform, Geek Meet, CashBase – a personal finance app. Filip is a speaker at many start-up conferences and has also co-authored “AJAX and PHP: Building Responsive Web Applications” – one of the first and most successful Ajax books”.

Lateral, a pan-European software development company with offices in London and Romania announced today that it has been appointed as technology solutions provider to Travelzoo Inc. (NASDAQ: TZOO).

Under the terms of the three-year deal, Ciprian Morar, Lateral’s founder and CEO, will also serve as Vice President, Innovation at Travelzoo reporting to Travelzoo’s CEO, Chris Loughlin. Travelzoo will also license from Lateral Explorra.com’s Travel Connect® platform to enhance its systems.

Explorra.com, a young travel start-up has launched Travel by Color, an interactive visual discovery tool which allows users to discover travel guides in a fun and innovative way, by just using color.

“We’re experimenting with a new breed of travel technology applications and this is really just a fun way to discover new places” said Bogdan Stănescu, Technology Director.

A new travel social network, combining niche interests with mash-ups and commerce, Explorra offers a large range of travel inspiration tools and social features. Neogen SA, owner of Bestjobs.ro, one of the largest job sites in Romania, has acquired Ceevee.com.
Bestjobs is expanding internationally after a good start in the regional level (currently being present in Bulgaria (Bestjobs.bg), Serbia (Bestjobs.rs) and Moldova (Bestjobs.md)

The start-up was acquired from the Incubator service of Lateral Romania, a software consulting company.
